Sack tankers between Trade Fair Bridge and Abule-Ado—ASPMDA, TFSA cry out
The leadership of Lagos International Trade Fair Stakeholders Association (TFSA) has once again called on the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and law enforcement agencies in the state to help remove petroleum tanker operators at least between the foot of the Trade fair complex flyover and Abule-Ado Bus Stop to stop the harrowing nightmares motorists from the complex pass every evening while leaving trade fair.
Decrying the menace in his office, a top official of TFSA and current President of ASPMDA, Hon. Ngozi Emechebe decried the scenario where their members are regularly robbed and their cars vandalized by hoodlums who hide around the tankers lined up from the foot of the brisge to Abule-Ado to vent criminality on car owners coming out from the Lagos trade fair complex on a daily basis.
He said whereas every effort by stakeholders’ to end the parking have failed, they are pleading with the state government and security agencies to remove and stop the indiscriminate parking of petroleum tankers on four out of the five lanes, thereby leaving motorists highly frustrated especially during the evening rushing hours.
According to him, the level of traffic jam experienced on the corridor daily make many of their members get to their homes even as late as 1.30AM in the night which is very dangerous.
Also speaking, the chairman of TFSF and president of Association of Progressive Traders (APT), Chief Eric Ilechukwu joined ASPMDA President in making the same appeal to the state government, saying majority of people doing business in the complex had become victims of either robbery activities or car vandalisation between the bridge and Abule-Ado especially in the evenings.
Other stakeholders’ who spoke to Business Hilights yesterday evening during the peak of the traffic jam, called on Police, the Army and both FRSC and LASTMA to come to their aids especially in the evenings to save them from criminals hiding under the tankers to unleash mayhems on a daily basis.
All calls put through to the Trade Fair Management Board (TFMB) Executive Director, Mr. Charles Harvester Okoye by Business Hilights were not responded to as at press time.
