Just in: Banks, other financial institutions to join in NLC warning strike tomorrow
Amidst begging by the Minister of Labour and Productivity to the NLC and TUC to suspend planned strike tomorrow, the lead umbrella body for all Nigerian banks, insurance firms and related companies under the National Union of Banks, Insurance & Financial Institutions Employees (NUBIFIE) has issued a notice saying “In line with the communique issued after the meeting of National Executive Council (NEC) of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NI.C) held on Thursday 31- Augus, 2023 that all affiliates should direct all its members to commence two days’ withdrawer of services from Tuesday & Wednesday the 5’h & 6″ September, 20123.
The terse statement signed by the General Secretary, Mohammed Sheikh added that “The directives is imperative to get the needed attention of government and warn it off its new found love of meddling in the internal affairs of unions rather than address the punishing economie circumstances we find ourselves.
“We hereby direct all our organs to comply with this directive by ensuring all our members stay off duties for the two days.
