More facts have emerged on why the leading privately owned nursing institution East of the Niger, Ezeala College of Nursing Sciences, Okwudor in Njaba LGA of Imo State has been on a steady growth both in capacity and capability.
Fact checks by Business Hilights showed that whereas the managerial dexterity of the current Provost, Dr. Mrs. Augustina Ogini combined with other key officials has strong hands on the reasons behind the unprecedented rise to stardom of the institution within the shortest time, the supporting hands of both USA and UK Diaspora bodies which recently congratulated the College over feats it achieved within a short period remained unprecedented.
However, the fact remains that the incumbent Provost, Dr Mrs. Augustina Ogini did not achieve the laudable feat single – handedly (no she did not).
Investigations revealed that she worked in synergy with other very able and capable hands made up of intelligent academic and non-academic staffers of the College.
To mention but a few the Registry department ably piloted by Chief Augustine Igbojekwe; past Registrar of Imo State University, Owerri ably assisted by his team of seasoned administrators like Mrs Igbojekwe Onyeka, Dr. Mrs C. Igbojekwe…the list continues.
Also we have to mention that A and E (Accident and Emergency) guru Mrs. Ifeyinwa Azamairo the Coordinator of the Post Basic unit to the College.
It would be recalled that the US Diaspora led by Christopher Igbojekwe Jnr. had several months ago, handed down the salutation in a congratulatory message send to the College management.
Explaining more in a recent media chat, Dr. Mrs. Ogini noted that due to the working synergy with other staff, the population of the school has moved from 82 she met in 2021 to over 400 students after the 2023 matriculation.
According to her, the first result of the institution was 100 per cent as the school passed out students in both Basic Nursing, Post Basic Accident & Emergency Nursing.
On matriculation, she added that the school currently operates on three fully accredited departments including Basic Nursing which took in 150; Basic Midwifery with 74 intakes and 24 students studying Post Basic Accident & Emergency. Also, the School capped 360 students within the period under review.
Explaining more, elated Dr. Mrs. Ogini, hinted that the College is happy to announce to the general public that it has secured accreditation for the takeoff of Department of Public health and within a space of few weeks, all will be set for effective take off.
On whether there chances of still being admitted, the Provost averred that new intakes who are qualified and able to approach the school between now and end of the month stand a better chance of being considered for admission in the current academic calendar.
On available infrastructures, whereas new buildings and structures are coming up, the College enjoys 24 hour solar lights and an uninterrupted pipe borne water supply. These amenities extend to the 250 bed hospital, 200 bed hostels, the College Admin, and the 700 seater-Auditorium buildings.
Considering the growth potentials so far displayed by the institution, there are strong indications that more support would continue to come from both the USA and UK Diaspora led by Christopher Igbojekwe Jnr. representing USA Diaspora and Ese Ajekugele representing UK Diaspora. Aside the two Diaspora bodies, there is also Imo state Nursing Association Berlin which has been giving support.
