Opening the week, Nigerian equities ended the session mixed, albeit with a bearish tilt as the benchmark index shed 1bp to settle at 49,657.33 points. Gains in MTNN (+0.50%), BUACEMENT (+0.47%) and ZENITHBANK (+2.12%) were offset by selloffs in GTCO (-0.25%), FBNH (-2.27%), ACCESSCORP (-2.84%) and PRESCO (-9.97%). Consequently, the year-to-date (YTD) return fell to 16.25%, while the market capitalization shed a meager ₦3.64bn to close at ₦26.78trn.

Analysis of Monday’s market activities showed trade turnover settled lower relative to the previous session, with the value of transactions decreasing by 58.78%. A total of 210.84m units of shares valued at ₦2.19bn were exchanged in 4,122 deals. ETRANZACT (+0.00%) led the volume chart with 52.55m units traded, while GTCO (-0.25%) led the value chart in deals worth ₦315.92m.

Market breadth closed negative at a 1.42-to-1 ratio, with declining issues outnumbering advancing ones. PRESCO (-9.97%) led sixteen (16) others on the laggard’s log, while NEIMETH (+9.29%) topped eleven (11) others on the laggard’s table.
