Contrary to some media reports that Dangote Group recently ordered thousands of heavy duty trucks from China, correct facts have emerged showing that it actually ordered trucks from a local assembly plant in Emene, Enugu State.

The plant, powered by Transit Support Services (TSS) in partnership with ANAMMCO, is currently assembling Shacman Trucks and heavy duty trucks.

It is important to note that TSS Limited is a subsidiary of ABC Transport Plc and assembles a wide range of commercial vehicles like heavy and light duty trucks, fire engines and commercial buses.

Additional fact checks revealed that apart from the latest order for about 650 trucks, Dangote Group has since the plant re-opened five years ago after a period of skeletal operations, taken delivery of no fewer than 1,500 units of various models of the brand.

Analysts say Shacman is widely regarded in China as the best in heavy duty vehicles for long distance haulage on roads with plenty challenges.

Business Hilights gathered that in 2018, Dangote Group had not only ordered but taken delivery of about 350 units of Shacman heavy duty trucks assembled at the plant. The vehicles, all of which were of the 8×4 tipper truck model (said to be among the best from the brand’s product line-up and a class-beater in its segment), were delivered to the Dangote Oil Refinery in the Lekki Free Trade Zone (LFTZ).
