Leading South African telecoms giant and MTN Nigeria, has officially made it clear that it strongly condemns hate, prejudice and xenophobia and reiterate our unequivocal condemnation of all violence.
In a terse statement made available to Business Hilights, MTN Nigeria said “We seek to connect people, bring people together and provide a platform for everyone’s voice to be heard. We are against all forms of bigotry and discrimination; they should have no place in society.
“Everyone has the right to a world where their rights and freedoms are respected — the right to live and earn a living, freely, safely and protected by the law.
During an official visit to the corporate head office of the company in Lagos on Tuesday, our correspondent saw a gigantic banner placed on the fence close to entry gate of the company with inscription; “We Stand Against Xenophobia”.
Latest wave of attacks on Nigerians and their interests have gone bizarre in recent time as viral videos show high level destruction of genuine businesses owned by Nigerians in South Africa.
Besides, the new wave of looting and destructions is coming at a time deaths linked to xenophobic attacks in South Africa has jumped to all time high since the end of Apartheid South Africa which Nigeria played a big-brother role.
