Okorocha, wife, daughter join Mrs Madueke in forfeiture of assets to EFCC
Former Imo State Governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha, wife and daughter are now on the same page with former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Allison Madueke in suits leading to forfeiture of their assets to the government.
Otherwise, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has obtained orders for the interim forfeiture of assets traced to a former governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha; his wife, Nneoma Nkechi, and their daughter.
This is coming barely few days after the consortium of Orlu Elders Forum is their recent general meeting called on the State Governor, Mr. Emeka Ihedioha to recover all looted state assets traced to the former governor and his cohorts.
Details provided by the Head, Enugu Zonal Office of the commission, Mr. Usman Imam on Wednesday in Enugu at a press briefing newsmen on the activities of the commission in the last eight months, showed that the anti-graft agency has already obtained another order apart from the one on the governor and his family members on a property traced to a former aide to Okorocha, Mr. Paschal Obi, and the former governor’s daughter.
Besides, he revealed that EFCC had established prima facie cases against the suspects, which they would answer to.
In a simple assertion, EFCC said “The commission would like to know how the Rochas Foundation and “other accomplices” acquired and or converted some of the property for personal use.
Some of the properties already confiscated include a 16-block 96-flat structure and an eight-bungalow multimillion naira estate, hotel, two schools, shopping plaza, supermarket, hospital and four vehicles.
Imam averred that while the hospital was traced to Obi, the remaining properties were traced to the former governor and his family, including his wife and daughter.
The EFCC, who noted that “We hope to get permanent forfeiture orders on the property in order to return them to the people of the state,” said “All the facilities, including the schools, would remain functional as the commission would not like to shut them down for the sake of the students and other users while trials go ahead until the determination of all the substantive suits.”
