Barley one month after the Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo ceded to the age long request of the Lagos State Government to lift the face of Muritala Mohammed International Airport access road linking Oshodi, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode on Wednesday revealed that the multi- billion naira reconstruction will begin in September this year.

He made this public during the 3rd Quarterly Town Hall Meeting at Badore area of Lagos, reiterating that the road would be developed into a 10-lane road befitting an international road.

Besides, he revealed further that the take off of the scheme will coincide with the flag of another set of 181 roads across LGs/LCDAs of the State.

Business Hilights recalls that the governor few months ago delivered the first set of 144 roads spread across each of the 57 councils in the state, two each.

He said the construction of the roads had been delayed because of the exchange rate, saying that by the time the projects were advertised in January 2017, the exchange rate was N490 to a dollar.

Ambode noted that now the exchange rate was around N350 to a dollar and that the contract for the roads would be re-advertised in two or three weeks time as government wanted to build the roads at a lower cost.

Continuing, he said “By the next two to three weeks, I will reopen the advert to get a new cost and all things been equal the job would start on the roads by end of September,” he said.
