Garmin in collaboration with MTN Ghana and Izone has introduced health and fitness products into the Ghanaian market.
The products, which include watches, have built in activity trackers to monitor and record daily activities and motivate customers towards a healthier lifestyle.
The products are vivoFit 3, vivoMove Classic, vivoSmart HR, vivoActive HR, Fenix 3 HR and Garmin Index smart.
Mr. Mike Clarke, the Sub-Sahara Africa Business Development Manager of Garmin, speaking at the launch said there is an increased awareness around the world regarding health, especially obesity and the associated illness linked to this which has been a catalyst for many people and families to start living a more active lifestyle.
He said the wearable technology watches are smart devices that pairs with the client’s phone to display personal data, text messages and emails on the device.
He said the Garmin Connect Mobile Application is a free download and could even use the App’s Bluetooth connectivity links to receive current weather conditions, forecasts, voice call/text message notifications and more right on your fitness device.
MTN Ghana would be offering free three months 900MB data bundle deal for customers purchasing any one of the six Garmin products on offer.
Mr. Asher Khan, the Chief Marketing Officer of MTN, said the management considers the partnership as important because it brings the company’s digital agenda to life.
He said evolution of technology has paved the way for so much innovation to the extent that there were technology solutions that provide answers to almost everything under the sun.
He said one of such innovative technologies was the Garmin health watch technology, which measures heart rate and allows the client clients to track their sleep pattern and many others.
Khan said the introduction of the device was very timely, considering the increasing interest and adoption of healthy lifestyle by many people.
Other freebes coming with the device include access to free 300 MB data each month for three months.
