Marrow-bound shocks took over the air in Abuja as the immediate past and runaway Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Alhaji Abdullahi Dikko, returned N1,040,000, 000 to the Federal Government.
It would be recalled that Dikko had served as the head of customs between August, 2009 and August, 2015. Before escaping to abroad on health grounds, he was arrested for allegedly diverting about N40bn. The case is still pending.
Details show that returned funds were allegedly drawn from proceeds of the seven per cent cost of collection and one per cent comprehensive import supervision scheme.
Sources say more is still expected from him, revealing that he may get soft landing if all the N4bn could be returned by him in record time.
