The Management of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), led by the Managing Director, Hadiza Bala Usman Tuesday, played host to the Executives of STARZ Marine and Engineering Ltd.

The visitors led by the managing director, Greg Ogbeifun were on a working visit to the Corporate Headquarters of the NPA, Lagos.

Though details of the discussions were not given, industry analysts say STARZ Marine Group had been a strategic partner with several maritime agencies by virtue of the company’s position and pedigree as a leading indigenous player in shipping and allied services.

Business Hilights recalls that few months ago, the indigenous giant, though facilities secured abroad and some local banks, financed the acquisition of a ship which will be deploying to deepen local participation in crude oil freight and related haulage.

The company had over the years decried the non-disbursement of Cabotage Vessel Financing Fund (CVFF), contributed by indigenous shippers and domiciled in NIMASA.

However, with the latest move by the Minister of Transportation, Mr Rotimi Amaechi, there are strong indications that the access to the fund by local shippers may begin this year after more than a decade of the fund.
