Tin Can Customs Command Seeks Gov., stakeholders’ Support in free Port Access Road
The recent clearance of articulated vehicles lining the ever busy Mile 2 to Tin Can Port via a joint effort of the State Governor, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Tin Can Customs Command and other stakeholders has been commended by the Customs Command boss, Mr. Dera Nnadi.
Speaking during a press conference on Friday, he thanked the Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his rare political will in making sure that the port access road is free once more.
Nnadi also hailed the collaborative efforts of the NPA and truckers unions in freeing traffic on the federal highway straight to the port complex in Tin Can.
On how to maintain the returned sanity on the highway, the Controller advised truckers to avail themselves of all the Truck Parks built to service the port rather than returning back to block the roads again.
According to him, other critical stakeholders on port access road including Maritime workers, the Police, Transport Associations and others also contributed to the current traffic sanity being enjoyed along the port access corridor.
However, the Controller was quick to express worry on the continued attacks on released containers especially around areas in Mile 2 and beyond and called on the State government to see how the ‘boys’ can be better utilized than causing troubles for containers and truck drivers.
