Osinbajo flags off N510bn water, sanitation scheme to meet MDG 6

The government has stepped up efforts to meet the demands of the goal six of the Sustainable Development Goals, which is to ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all by the year 2030.

Earlier in the week in Abuja, Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo inaugurated N510 Billion partnership for Expanded Water Suppy, Sanitation and Hygiene (PEWASH) Programme.

Details of the scheme show that about N290.5 Billion is to be set aside for water while for the period 2016 to 2017, Sanitation and hygiene in schools, primary health centres, motor parks and market centres are expected to gulp  N133Billion  for the period 2016 to 2030.

 Osinbajo explained that PEWASH was an initiative designed to address the challenges confronting water supply and sanitation sub-sector.
