Clearer details have emerged concerning the resignation of Daniel Amokachi from his position as assistant coach of the Super Eagles, few days before the team’s crucial World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic.
According to OwnGoalNigeria, Amokachi’s decision to quit was due to a disagreement over his role in the coaching hierarchy. Despite being appointed as one of the assistants to Finidi George, the newly appointed head coach preferred Benjamin James as his first assistant, relegating Amokachi to the position of second assistant.
Feeling undervalued and demoted, Amokachi decided to leave the team, citing that he deserves better treatment. Efforts are being made by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and officials from the Ministry of Sports to persuade Amokachi to reconsider his decision, but he remains adamant.
