Business operators hail stakeholders for restoring electricity in complex
Finally public power supply has been restored at the Lagos International Trade Fair complex, Badagry Expressway after years of suffering.
Speaking to Business Hilights in an exclusive interview in his office on Monday, the Chairman of Stakeholders who doubles as the President of Association of Progressive Traders (APT), Chief Eric Ilechukwu, he said “I thank all members of the Trade Fair Stakeholders Association (TFSA) which is our central body controlling all the business associations in the complex for their roles in making sure that today, we have electricity in the complex.”
“Recall that for some times now, we have no public power supply in the complex due to aging and low capacity of existing transformer serving the complex.
“So, we in the TFSA met and decided to make official complaint to both the National Electricity Commission and Eko Disco. Our lawyer also followed it up with several letters.
“In fact, at a point, former ASPMDA President and BoT chairman, Chief DC Offorkansi was drafted in to pursue the project which he did very well.
Continuing, Chief Ilechukwu revealed that when the new ED of TFMB, Barr. Vera Ndanusa came on board; she also joined in the process of getting new and high-powered transformer for the complex.
“So, towards the end of December last year, the high capacity transformer came and the installation stated. Today, every association is having power.
“However, many associations have issues with their private transformers. Many transformers in the complex were vandalized and associations are now repairing their damaged transformers so that they can enjoy public power supply which is now available through our joint efforts.
Many of the business owners in the complex who spoke to our correspondent hailed the leadership of the current TFSA led by Chief Ilechukwu and his Exco for repositioning the complex and providing ease of doing business for everybody.
It would be recalled that under the current leadership, a new second entry and exit gate was funded by stakeholders and opened for use.
Under the current Exco, the complex has been able to resolve several State Government issues including that of LAWMA and MPP&UD which cropped up before the end of last year in partnership with the TFMB.
