Following the failed attempt to takeover leadership in the largest auto trading complex in Africa, the Auto Spare Parts and Machinery Dealers Association (ASPMDA) on Saturday, January 13 by one Mr. James Umeji (popularly known as JimBest), today, Monday, January 15, 2024, the Lagos Police hierarchy lead by the Grand Parton of ASPMDA and Senator representing Anambra South, Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah addressed the business owners at ASPMDA, assuring them that such attempted takeover of powers would not happen again.

While restoring the current government led by Hon. Ngozi Emechebe, Senator Ubah advised members to remain focused on their businesses and be law abiding.

He assured ASPMDA of speedy attention on every matter bordering the complex.

Also speaking, a top Police officer in the entourage, Mr. TY Fatai, assured the traders of Police protection and advised them to go ahead their businesses without fear as the Police will continue to maintain peace at all times.

Earlier in his address, ASPMDA President, Hon. Ngozi Emechebe thanked the Governor, Olusola Sanwo-Olu for his love for peace at all time in ASPMDA.

Business Hilights recalls that Mr. Umeji and some hoodlums had allegedly stormed the complex and made their way to the ASPMDA Office while the market was officially under locks and keys to takeover ahead of the official market reopening which is today, Monday, Jan. 15, 2024.

Lawyers who spoke with our correspondent on the matter averred that rather than getting an order from a competent court of jurisdiction, the opposition group relied on an alleged fake document from one Chinedu Ukatu and Amodu Rasak of the Lagos State Market Advisory Council and Local Govt. Administration respectively, which has no executive powers or can supersede an order of a court to carry out the act.
