November 22, 2023 was, indeed a memorable day for the 10 Autonomous Communities that make up the Ochasiato Clan, as a foremost Philanthropist and Traditional Ruler of Isi Ihiteowerri Autonomous Community in Orlu LGA of Imo State, South East Nigeria, HRH Eze (Amb.) Damian Emeka Obianigwe (KSM) – Ezeoha, Obi of Isi Ihiteowerri, under the aiges of Advocates for Global Peace Forum International (AGPFI), an NGO, organised a one-Day Free Medical Test/Treatment and Free Eye Screening/Treatment Programme for the people of Ochasi Clan.
The maiden Edition of this programme took place at the same venue on October 5, 2022, which also witnessed a Drug Abuse Reduction Seminar for over 2.000 Youths of the region on 06/10/22.
Information correspondent, Fortune Obikwere, who covered the event, reports that at about 0800hours GMT (9.00am local time), patients from across the communities started trooping into St. Martin’s catholic parish premises, the venue for the event. By 10.00am local time, the venue was filled to capacity, the scene described by the leader of the team, Mrs. Ngozi Ani as very fantastic.
The medical team rose up to the occasion as all hands were on deck to do the needful with different departments of healthcare arranged for easy access.Earlier in an opening remarks, the organiser of the programme and the traditional ruler of Isi Ihiteowerri, HRH Eze (Amb.) Damian E. Obianigwe (KSM) – Ezeoha, Obi of Isi Ihiteowerri, ably represented by the Parish Priest of St. Martin’s Catholic Church, Ihiteowerri, Rev. Fr. Christopher Chukwu. enjoined the participants to always take good care of their health conditions, avoid self-medication and visit any health facility each time they fell sick, pointing out that his intention to organise the programme was anchored on the feelings he had for them, adding that they should make good use of the medications given to them free of charge. Eze Obianigwe later prayed for God’s healing mercies upon the people of Ochasi Clan.
Some of the patients who spoke with our correspondent expressed joy and happiness over the programme, while praying God to reward Eze Obianigwe abundantly. According to them, the programme had impacted their lives tremendously. Listen to some of them:Rev. Fr. Henry Maduka’s Mother (from Amato Ihiteowerri) prayed for the blessing of God upon Eze Obianigwe and his family: “I have not been to any hospital and was given food, but in this one, I was given food and medicine. I have not seen this type before. May God bless AGPFI and her team, Amen, Amen, Amen!” she quipped.
Mrs. Ijego Obijiaku (from Ihiteowerri Ancient kingdom) said: “Denco, My Son-in-Law, I greet you, even the way this programme was run last year. It was interesting to us. May the blessings of God envelop you and your family ….those who wish us to live, may they live too… this is our prayer in Jesus Name.”
Another person that spoke was the traditional Prime Minister (ODU) of Ihiteowerri ancient Kingdom, Chief Sir, Donatus Noël Obijiaku: “the programme was wonderful,…I could have started calling him here, but… he is our fellow Knight of St. Mulumba. He does this every year, and he is a philanthropist, he always think good for people… look at the crowd of people that came here. You can’t see this in any hospital. Am always proud of him…tell him that the ODU of Ihiteowerri is proud of him…” he concludes.
Others that spoke included Mrs. Mary Odinkaru (from Obibi Ochasi), Mrs. Elizabeth (a Widow), Mr. JoeBest Music (from Amanato Ihiteowerri), Mr. Venitus Alagboso, Mr. Charles Ogbuji (Catechist from Obibi Ochasi), and many others, who expressed gratitude to Eze Obianigwe, while praying God to sustain him.
The event was attended by numerous patients from Orlu North Development Area that make up the Ochasi Clan. Highlight of the programme included health test and treatment, Eye care test and treatment including the feeding of the patients.
