At the eleventh hour again, the duo of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have shelved the proposed workers’ strike scheduled to commence tomorrow, Tuesday, 3rd October, 2023 for the first 30 days. The aim is to observe the level of sincerity of the government in implementing all the agreed terms and conditions.
In a terse address, the unions explained that the need to call off the planned industrial action is amongst other things, to give the Federal Government the opportunity to implement agreed terms with the Nigerian workers.
Business Hilights recalls that there had been marathon meetings between the government and the labour unions since weekend with the government coming up with enticing terms and conditions before the unions.
Accordingly, work resumes nationwide tomorrow as the unions begin to watch the implementation of the agreed terms failing which; another round of strike will be declared forthwith.
