The ever busy Onitsha-Owerri-Port Harcourt Federal Highway have clearly failed to the forces of erosion as it has cut into two parts at Orifite Town in Anambra State on Monday night.

It would be recalled that in the last four years, there had been serious outcries to the Federal Government that the most strategic highway East of The Niger; the Onitsha-Owerri-Port Harcourt Expressway is facing serious threat at Oraifite.

Whereas all the cries failed on ears of the Federal Government upon several trips made to Abuja by the Anambra State Governor for the Ministry of Works to work on the erosion-threatened spot at Oraifite, nothing came out of it but total division of the highway on Monday, September 25, thus keeping everybody stranded.

Since yesterday, findings by Business Hilights South East Bureau Chief reports that there had been no movement as vehicles are stand still.

However, some who attempted to use the village routes were met with stiff resistance by locals who turned every vehicle back at every time of the day and night till now.

Efforts to reach the Director, PR and Press at the Ministry of Transportation on the matter failed at press time.

Also calls made to the Ministry of Works on the matter could not be responded to equally, an indication that the Federal Government may have been aware of the development before now.
