The Anambra State International Passengers/Cargo Airport has been rated high in terms of quality services and provision of aviation facilities comparable to global standard.
Disclosing this at Umueri, a United Nations Peace Ambassador, Ikenna Offor said the state has been richly blessed by the establishment of the airport, stressing that it will alleviate the suffering of the business people.
He however, expressed concerned over the deplorable condition of Umueri, Airport Road which was abandoned before the inauguration of the airport
“I was on my way from United Kingdom when I noticed that the all-important road has been abandoned. The road is the shortest access to the airport from the commercial city of Onitsha.
“Giving the social and economic relevance of the road, I challenge journalists to investigate and report their findings”.
He explained that when completed, the road will obviously assist in addressing security and other challenges in the state.
Also, a philanthropists and business mogul, Chief Okeke Ugonsbo commended the state government for the giant strides but called for more access road to the airport. He specifically urged the government to dualise the Onitsha/Otuocha road, Nsugbe/Onitsha road, as well as complete the abandoned Umueri road to the airport.
