Following the recent commissioning of Milton Steel Manufacturing Company by the Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, production activities has begun at the complex in Awkuzu.
Soludo described the multi-million-naira Milton Steel Manufacturing Company which will be producing steel rods as a celebration of industry, enterprise, partnership and homeland consciousness plus Akulueuno.
According to him, Milton Steel is the first of its kind in the entire South Eastern Region.
Earlier, the Chairman and Managing Director of the company and State House of Assembly member, Honourable Innocent Ojike, said the project is in response to the clarion call by the state government for the people of the state to bring their investments home, in line with the Akulueuno philosophy to fight poverty.
He explained that the company, which has employed two hundred persons including foreigners, will in the nearest future be giving jobs to over two thousand persons, while producing Steel Rods of all sizes.
For one of the Directors of the company, Mr. Wang, the rods to be produced by the company will be of great importance for construction works and available in all markets.
Also speaking, the Transition Committee chairman, Oyi Local Government Area, Honourable Emma Nweke, said the visit of the Governor to the council area is very remarkable and extolled him for awarding the contract for the construction of Awkuzu-Umunya Road.
The event attracted top government functionaries, Presidents-general of communities in Oyi Council Area.
