The President of the largest auto trading centre in sub-Saharan Africa, Auto Spare Parts and Machinery Dealers Association (ASPMDA), Hon. Ngozi Emechebe, Wednesday April 26, 2023, marked his 100 days in office at the Lagos International Trade Fair complex.
Addressing an international press conference in his office, he listed many of his achievements within the period under review to include but not limited to the dredging of Trade Fair Canal up to the Omonile axis in Ado-Soba area of Abule-Ado; which has allowed for free evacuation of flood waters from the entire trade fair complex seamlessly, clearing of many years of abandoned solid waste in ASPMDA, settlement of several cases amongst ASPMDA members, renovation of offices and security house, repairs of ASPMDA Operational vehicles, return of democratic and good governance to ASPMDA, digitization of process of ASPMDA shop ownership documents, return of peace, law and order to ASPMDA, marking for the first time, ASPMDA Freedom Day on February 14, 2023 and so many other achievements.

However, there are three more strategic events that took place within the period under review in ASPMDA. These include the hosting of three senior citizens of the country including the State Police Commissioner within the period, a presidential candidate of the Federal Republic in the person of His Excellency, Mr. Peter Obi, and a seating governor of the State, His Excellency, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
According to him, “I want to reiterate that we in ASPMDA were so much encouraged by the promises of the state governor during his visit.
“Why do I say so?
“I say so because his promises carried heavy weight because we know that he will fulfill them.
“Amongst his pledges included the clear way he assured all of us that all our investments here in Lagos belongs to us 100 per cent. Remember this followed a question asked by one of our senior citizens, Chief Ofoma while making his goodwill message during the visit.
Continuing, Emechebe recalled that Governor Sanwo-Olu assured to do several roads around the Trade Fair to ease up movement of people and growth in businesses.
I remember when he said that “A bank and I, have agreed to repair the road leading to this place and we all clapped for him. He will do it.
“The Governor also assured to do the link road to Abule-Ado, via Omonile even to nIyana-School. That is from St. Joseph, through 2nd Avenue in FESTAC Town, Alakija Link Bridge to link the entire Lagos road system with the aim of boosting economic activities and easing off traffic on the ever busy Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
“Even on the Expressway, we recall that the Governor also promised to complete the rail line from Mile 2 to Okokomaiko and we all at ASPMDA know that the rail system will help us very well.
Meanwhile, giving further insights on his future plans for ASPMDA, Hon. Emechebe revealed that he is working out a process that will pull ASPMDA from the epileptic 7.5KVA Trade Fair sub-station to the 33 Line direct link, saying the move will to a greater extent deliver better electricity supply to the plaza.
He also explained that the digitization process has started in ASPMDA assuring that very soon linking the plaza from every part of the world will become seamless to all.
He therefore assured members that the future is very bright for ASPMDA.
