Consider venturing into farming, Ecobank woos Nigerian youths
Leading pan-African financial giant, Ecobank has continued to woo Nigerian youths into farming as a vocation with mouth-watering supports and free trainings.
In a recent presentation, the bank said “Agric business has remained a major source of wealth for many Nigerians. In fact, before the advent of crude oil, agriculture was the mainstay of Nigeria’s economy. Those who remained in agriculture after the oil boom made billions of naira as their products are now sought after both locally and internationally.
The bank also called on interested youths to take advantage of “our 4 weeks free online training on agriculture and technology specifically designed to equip you with the skills needed to establish a successful agricultural business.”
Ecobank also reviewed the encouraging performances of five leading biggest farms in the country making billions annually and catering to the needs of the nation as follows:
1. Obasanjo Farms
Obasanjo Farms is one of the largest farms in the country. The farm has different sections and is located in different parts of the country. The production of agricultural goods is carried out on more than 30 thousand hectares of land. They are into livestock farming (poultry, piggery and cattle rearing) and animal food processing.
2. Maizube farms
Maizube Farms is an integrated farm founded in 2003. It is located 26km along the Minna-Bida Road on 700 hectares of land. Farming operations include diary and orchard farming.
3. Sebore Farms
Sebore Farms specializes in cattle rearing and horticultural crops. The farm is located at Moya-Belwa, Adamawa State. The farm also has ventured into other aspects of farming. Sebore Farms has over 50,000 mango trees; making the largest mango farm in Nigeria.
4. AnadariyaFarms
Anadariya Farms is one of the most successful farms in Nigeria. Fun fact, it was once abandoned for decades with no activity. The farm specializes in hatchery, the production of broilers and layers, the production of feeds, and the processing and sale of poultry products. In fact, Anadariya Farms produces over 3,000 broilers weekly.
5. Ojemai Farms
Ojemai farms is located in Edo Sate and with a major interest in livestock production.
Today, the farm is known to produce broilers, cat fish, fish fingerlings, and other forms of animal produce.
