Simon Ekpa arrested, released Thursday, to appear before Police today, Friday
The pro-Biafra separatist agitator and opposition Sit-At-Home announcer, Simon Ekpa, who was arrested Thursday morning by Police in Finland and released after being questioned on a crime hours after he was arrested, has been directed to appear before the Police Friday for continuation of interrogation, Business Hilights can authoritatively report.
On return to his house yesterday evening, he immediately tweeted that he has returned to finish what he started after claiming that Thursday’s Sit-At-Home order was successful which feelers from the South East showed that it was a total failure after all.
Recall that earlier in the day; Ekpa was escorted out of his apartment in Lahti by Finnish policemen, who averred that Ekpa’s arrest was in connection with the ongoing preliminary investigation.
According to the Finnish Police, “The person being questioned today is suspected of a crime. We will return to the title on Friday,” Tommi Reen from the Central Criminal Police told HS during a phone interview.
Ekpa, a self-acclaimed disciple of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, had repeatedly ordered the people of the South-East to observe a sit-at-home and asked them to boycott the country’s general elections billed for Saturday.
Otherwise, he has threatened that any person in the South-Eastern Part of the Nigeria that tries to participate or vote in the 2023 General Elections scheduled to hold on Saturday Feb. 25th will be ruthlessly dealt with.
The Separatist leader has been fingered as being the arrowhead of several killing by ‘Unknown Gunmen’, a dangerous armed militia responsible for the deaths of several people and even public officials in the South-East.
Ekpa, a self-acclaimed disciple of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), rose to prominence in July 2021 after he was announced as the lead broadcaster of Radio Biafra.
The Finland-based activist was appointed to replace Kanu following the re-arrest of the IPOB leader by the federal government. After some weeks, IPOB announced Ekpa’s disengagement, citing his refusal to sign the rules of engagement of Radio Biafra.
Last week, the government of Nigeria made an appeal to Finland to get hold of fugitive considering the mayhem he has been causing in Nigeria over the years and on the general elections at hand. Accordingly, Finland government rightly warned him and advised him to retract the 5-day sit-at-home he announced which would have started yesterday, Thursday.
