NGX All-Share Index ends lower, down 0.42% Thursday

The Lagos bourse ended Thursday, 29 September 2022, trading session lower as the benchmark Index fell 0.42% to settle at 48,964.83 points, the lowest point since 24 August. The loss puts the index on track for its fourth consecutive weekly loss.

Selloffs in index heavyweight, NESTLE (-10.00%) drove the market into the red offsetting gains in ZENITHBANK (+0.50%), STANBIC (+3.45%) and ACCESSCORP (+1.26%). Consequently, the year-to-date (YTD) return fell to 14.63%, as market capitalization shed ₦111.62bn to close at ₦26.42trn.

Analysis of today’s market activities showed trade turnover settled higher relative to the previous session, with the value of transactions up by 88.03%. A total of 220.78m shares valued at ₦2.25bn were exchanged in 3,195 deals. JAIZBANK (+9.21%) led the volume chart with 85.91m units traded, while AIRTELAFRI (+0.00%) led the value chart in deals worth ₦360.04m.

Market breadth closed negative at a 1.33-to-1 ratio with declining issues outnumbering advancing ones. NESTLE (-10.00%) topped fifteen (15) others on the laggard’s table, while JAIZBANK (+9.21%) led eleven (11) others on the leader’s log.
