NGX All-Share Index edges up slightly, gains 2bps

Opening the holiday shortened week, activity on the Lagos bourse ended mixed as the All-Share index closed slightly higher (+0.02%) at 51,567.69 points. Gains in ZENITHBANK (+2.05%), FBNH (+0.94%) and INTBREW (+7.41%) offset losses in bank stocks, ACCESSCORP (-2.11%), UBA (-0.66%), and FCMB (-5.31%). Consequently, the year-to-date (YTD) return stood at 20.72%, while the market capitalisation rose by ₦5.55bn to close at ₦27.81trn.

Analysis of today’s market activities showed trade turnover settled higher relative to the previous session, with the value of transactions increasing by 22.65%. A total of 198.82m units of shares valued at ₦2.18bn were exchanged in 4,769 deals. GTCO (+0.00%) led the volume and value charts with 51.89m units traded in deals worth ₦1.06bn.

Market breadth closed negative at a 2.27-to-1 ratio with declining issues outnumbering advancing ones. MULTIVERSE (-10.00%) topped twenty-four (24) others on the laggard’s table, while CWG (+10.00%) led ten (10) others on the gainer’s log.
