Twitter on Monday (April 25) confirmed the sale of the company to Tesla and SpaceX boss Elon Musk for $44 billion. The sale will now give control of one of the most popular social media platforms to the world’s richest person. Twitter is used by millions of people.
In a joint release announcing the takeover, Musk said: “Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated.”
However, former CEO, Parag Agrawal told employees that he doubts the future of the platform.
Wikipedia says Twitter is an American microblogging and social networking service on which users post and interact with messages known as “tweets”.
Registered users can post, like, and retweet tweets, but unregistered users can only read those that are publicly available.
