The red chambers of the National Assembly and distinguished Senators of the Federal Republic will at 1 pm, at Room 221, Senate New Building today Wednesday, July 15th, 2020 screen the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof Umar Danbatta.
The screening exercise, which bookmakers say, would be seamless following his track records and achievements in the last five years, is coming on the heels of his being nominated for re-appointment for a second term in office by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Business Hilights recalls that President Muhammadu Buhari had last week written the Senate to confirm the appointment of Prof. Umar Danbatta as the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) for a second term of five years.
The Senate President, Senator Ahmed Lawal read the letter at plenary of which parts thereof “I am pleased to present for confirmation by the senate the nomination of Prof. Umar Danbatta as the Executive Vice Chairman of the Governing Board of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) for a second term of five years.
“It is my hope that the Senate will confirm the nominee in the usual expeditious manner.

Journey to the re-nomination began from the Office of the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Pantami, who had last month announced the approval of Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari for the reappointment of Prof. Umar Danbatta, Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission for another term of five years.
