The leadership of Association of Licensed Telecom Operators of Nigeria (ALTON) has commended the joint efforts of the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, the EVC of NCC, the Comptroller General of Customs and the National Security Adviser (NSA) to the President for the reversal of the order restricting delivery of petroleum products to petrol stations within 20kms radius of the border.
The group said the meetings and resolutions of the aforementioned stakeholders’ made it possible and subsequently led to the waiver for our members to deploy fuel to all the Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) and mast sites along the border towns.
Business Hilights recalls that the fuel supply issue was becoming an embarrassment as almost all sites within 20km to border across the nation could not make calls and this also made it difficult for security personnel to perform ultimately.
In an interview with the Head, Operations of ALTON, Mr Gbolahan Awonuga, he thanked the Comptroller General of Nigerian Customs for his proactive efforts that gave directive to all Sector Commanders to comply with immediate effect once clearance is obtained.
According to him, “ALTON assures government that all its members will not abuse the waiver given them and are ready to support the security agencies in carrying out their duties whenever necessary.”
