Guard against technology from nations known for fake products, Minister tells NOTAP
The Minister of State for Science and Technology, Alhaji Mohammed Abdullahi has cautioned the National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP) to be very careful in treating technologies coming from countries that were known for producing substandard products.
Addressing the management of NOTAP Tuesday during a facility visit he advised the agency to operate with high level discretion, particularly in registering contracts for the transfer of foreign technology so as to avoid turning Nigeria to dumping ground for all sorts of technologies.
While making it clear that NOTAP remains very important in the Federal Government’s quest for technological transformation in the country, he enjoined the Federal agency use the patents generated by its services to improve the country’s economy.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Director General of NOTAP, Professor Dan-Azumi Ibrahim, assured that the agency would work harder to actualise its mandate and revealed that vide the strategic intelligence of the agency, it was able to save about N280bn for Nigeria through its activities.
