All roads in Lagos today leads to Apapa, the nation’s maritime city for a town hall meeting between the Director-General, Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON), Engr. Osita Aboloma and stakeholders to brainstorm on services automation of the agency.
A top official of the agency confided in Business Hilights that the DG will educate maritime stakeholders on the agency’s new operational system.
The event, which holds at the Rockview Hotel, Apapa, has as its theme: “Facilitating Trade Through SON Automated Services”.
Industry analysts who spoke with our correspondent noted that the sensitisation outreach would among other things; afford the DG of SON the opportunity to explain to service consumers and the public the workings of the agency’s newly upgraded systems.
The one-day exercise, it was also gathered, would afford shippers and their agents the opportunity to clarify issues with the agency especially on SONCAP, the recently upgraded technological initiatives, among others.
Before now, the agency had been battling with issues of misrepresentation of facts on the operational modalities of the workings of SON in the media by some persons.
There are strong indications that the Rockview Hotel event will provide the ample opportunity for stakeholders to get issues cleared by the leadership of the federal agency.
