Barely 24 hours after the African Development Bank (AfDB) Africa Economic Outlook 2020 had averred that the continent is suffering of undereducated and overeducated without perquisite skill match, Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA) has declared that the challenge among jobseekers in Nigeria is their unemployability due to skill mis-match.

The Director-General of NECA, Dr Timothy Olawale, at a recent job fair organised by the association, argued that there were many jobs in the country without the right skill sets to fill them.

He decried that Nigerian tertiary institutions are yet to review their curriculum to being to churn out graduates with skills that are currently in need, rather they had continued to produce graduates with skills needed during the first industrial revolution when many parts of the world are talking of fourth industrial revolution.

Olawale decried that “You want employment, there are jobs but you cannot get them because you are unemployable.

“To get a job, you must make yourself employable by being prepared with the skill set that is needed by that particular prospective employer,” NECA boss averred.
