The House of Representative Election Petition Tribunal seating in Ikeja, earlier Tuesday morning, dismissed the petition challenging the declaration of Hon Ganiyu Abiodun Johnson (APC) as the winner of the Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency II.

Delivering the judgment in the petition (EPT/LAG/REP/14/2019), Hon Justice S.I Okpara ruled that the petitioner, Mr Emmanuel Ndudim of the PDP failed to substantiate his petition that the election and rerun in some wards were marred by electoral irregularities.

The Tribunal further argued that it will be wrong to heed to the second prayers of the PDP’s candidate to be declared the winner when he (the petitioner) had claimed that the entire election was full of irregularities.

Besides, Justice Okpara ruled that all the witnesses called by the petitioner lacked locus standi based on the facts that they were never signatories to any of the results tendered or able to give verifiable reasons to support the claims of the plaintiff.

Addressing the media shortly after the judgment which lasted close to an hour, elated Hon Engr. Johnson described the ruling as a the best thing to happen to democracy and assured the mammoth crowd of party supporters and constituency that he will continue to deliver more dividends of democracy especially now the Tribunal has given him a clean bill of health as the truly elected House member representing Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency of Lagos State.
