Political pundits have started calculations and permutation on the chances former Governor, Chief Orji Uzo Kalu to repeat his winning ways and beat known grass root politician, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa of the ruling party in the state.
This stemmed from Monday’s ruling at the National Assembly petitions tribunal sitting in Abia state which sacked Orji Uzor Kalu as senator representing Abia north.
In its ruling, the tribunal ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a supplementary election within 90 days in eight wards in Arochukwu Local Government Area and several polling units in Ohafia and Isukwuato LGAs where votes were cancelled during the poll.
Analysts say considering the fact that areas affected by the rerun remain PDP areas, stressing that the chief whip of the Nigerian Senate, elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC) will have much work to do in retaining his seat at the red chambers.
