After years of operating without a constituted management board like other critical agencies, the Federal Government will today, Monday, June 24, 2019, inaugurate the board of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
The board, which will be chaired by Mr Olufemi Lijadu, is coming four years after President Muhammadu Buhari sacked the former SEC board headed by Mr. Peter Obi, former Anambra State Governor and PDP’s Vice Presidential candidate in the just concluded 2019 presidential election.
Details gathered by Business Hilights Abuja Bureau chief revealed that the low-kid planned inauguration would take place at the Ministry of Finance Headquarters, Abuja, under the supervision of the permanent secretary, Dr Mohammad Kyari Dikwa.
Whereas the Ogun State-born Lijadu, would serve as the commission’s chairman, other members of the board include Mr Lamido Yuguda from Gombe State (Non-executive Commissioner), Mrs Rekiya Ladi (Kaduna) Non-executive Commissioner and Mr Okokon Ekanem, representing the Ministry of Finance.
Others include Dr Alvan Ikoku, representing the Central Bank of Nigeria, Ms Mary Uduk, SEC’s Acting Director-General, and Mr. Henry Rowlands, SEC’s Acting Executive Commissioner, Corporate Services.
Also to be on the board from SEC includes Mr Isyaku Tilde, Acting Executive Commissioner (Operations), and Mr. Reginald Karawusa, SEC’s Acting Executive Commissioner (Legal and Enforcement).
Lifespan of the new board will expire in four years from today, if the inauguration finally holds as planned.
