After more than one month waiting game, the Management of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has appointed Dr. Henry Nkemadu as Director Public Affairs.
Recall that immediate former Director of Public Affairs, Mr Nnamdi Nwokike retired from active service alongside other top officials of the Commission, prompting the long search for replacement outside the department as there was none close to position of a director.
Business Hilights gathered that fortnight ago, Nkemadu rose to a full Director at the Commission from his immediate former position as Head, Special Intervention Projects at the Projects Department of the Commission.
His appointment as Director Public Affairs was announced to the participants at the ongoing annual Workshop for Judges taking place at Enugu where he (Nkemadu) is participating as part of the Commission’s delegation.
The new Director, whose appointment is with immediate effect is a graduate of veterinary medicine from the University of Nigeria.
However, within his years in the Commission, Nkemadu has traversed the length and breath of NCC acquiring experiences that qualify him for his new role. A former Controller of the Lagos Zonal Office – NCC’s largest Zonal Operation, Nkemadu has worked in the Departments of Economic Analysis and Corporate Planning (EACP); Policy, Competition and Economic Analysis (PCEA); Research and Development (R&D); and Projects.
Nigerians that have worked with him described him as a serial achiever, dutiful, pragmatic and intellectually eclectic, worthy of wearing the shoes left behind by an amazing tribe of accomplished and distinguished public servants.
Genealogy of the position at NCC showed that Dave Imoko, the avuncular and uncommon torchbearer handed over to the technocrat Tony Ojobo, who left earlier in the year for Nnamdi Nwokike to set the record of the NCC’s Director of Public Affairs that lasted in office just for few months.
