Fresh details have emerged on why Dangote Group has concluded arrangements to sell its flour producing value chain to Olam Group.
The scoop is gotten from Flour Mills of Nigeria (FMN) plc following a passionate appeal it has made to the Federal Government to implement favourable policies to encourage local manufacturers in growing indigenous businesses.
Explaining more during the Golden Penny Stakeholders Forum and unveiling of Golden Penny Jollof noodles in Lagos, the Category Manager for noodles, Golden Penny, Chiaka Eluchie, appealed to government to rescue indigenous flour mills from extinction considering the harshness of prevailing industrial polices relating to the sector.
According to Eluchie, “We want the Federal Government to give us some concessions, protect local manufacturers with favourable policies to compete favourably at the global market. We have expertise in making most of the products coming into the country.”
“These policies would grow local businesses if implemented and you know that Nigerian economy is heavily based on the manufacturing industry, so if we do well, Nigeria will do well,” Eluchie averred.
On the new product, she noted that the Golden Penny jollof noodles was derived from a unique blend of spices designed to meet consumers’ ever changing needs, disclosing that “For us, Golden Penny noodles is one of the top three brands in this category for over 10 years, so we are using this launch to excite our consumers by giving them another flavour.
“We have done so much research on wheat flavours and their appeal to consumers, so we decided to come out with Jollof noodles flavour. This brand is one of its kind, made from a unique blend of spices that give that intriguing jollof taste,” Category Manager for noodles, Golden Penny, added.
