Massive ongoing investments on its network nationwide have earned national telecommunication company, Globacom additional 400,000 new subscribers to emerge the number one network on the gainers’ table in the month of February, 2019.
Latest statistics released by the regulator, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), showed that Glo gained 400,879 subscribers, followed by 9mobile with 345,264 and Airtel, in third spot, with 4,559 new users in the month of February 2019.
However, MTN Nigeria Communications Plc, shed involuntarily 1,099,480 subscribers in the month but is likely to jump on subscriber base over others following a clear signal it has given on listing on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE).
Whereas Globacom has extended its lead over Airtel and 9mobile, it further closed the yawning gap between it and MTN.
Currently, Globacom leads Airtel with 1, 028, 985 subscribers. Globacom has 46,004,517 customers while Airtel’s has 44, 975, 53. In January, Glo had 45,603,638 subscribers against 44,970,973 for Airtel.
