More reactions have continued to trial the recent electoral promise made by President Muhammadu Buhari in Benue State during his state rally in Makurdi this week.
Whereas President Buhari announced that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) will soon commence drilling for deeper search for oil and gas in the Benue Trough, some of the indigenes who are predominantly farmers have rejected the drilling promise and asked for peace and security that will drive their agro revolution.
Many of them that spoke top Business Hilights Abuja Bureau chief recalled that Benue State has been known for its superscription which is ‘Food Basket of The nation’, but regretted that the attacks and annexation of their farmlands by Fulani herders have frustrated their food production capability.
They said with the level their people who are farmers are running away from farms due to threats and killings of their people, food production in the state will go down this year as many of their farms in 2018 were abandoned for the safety of their lives.
