Confusion in Imo PDP guber race may kill their chances again, Imolites warn
Since the conduct of Imo State gubernatorial primaries for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), there had been issues with a clear flag bearer considering rulings and counter rulings in Courts.
In the latest judgment Monday, the Ihedioha Campiagn Organisation issued a statement that kept quiet on the ruling, but informed Imo citizens of the Southeast Zonal Rally of the party in Owerri yesterday.
The group said “The PDP Governorship flag bearer, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, CON, on behalf of The Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Imo State Chapter and the Ihedioha Campaign Organisation, heartily welcomes His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar (Turaki Adamawa), The PDP National Chairman of PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, the PDP National and Southeast Zonal Exco members, the Atiku Abubakar Campaign Organisation members, all Atiku/Obi Support Groups and all PDP delegations from Abia, Ebonyi, Enugu and Anambra States, to the Southeast Zonal Rally of the party which will take place in Owerri, Imo State on Tuesday, January 22, 2019.
“All members of the PDP Imo State, Ihedioha Campaign Organisation, Emeka Ihedioha Campaign Support Groups, the Clergy, Students, Artisans, Traders, and the general public are by this notice urged to come out enmasse to give a heroic welcome to the incoming President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, on this remarkable visit to the state for the party’s Southeast Zonal Rally.
“Ndi Imo are further urged to show solidarity and love to our own Vice Presidential Candidate of the PDP His Excellency, Chief Peter Obi (Okwute Ndigbo).
Venue is Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri ,IMO State.
The statement was signed by Dr. Vin Udokwu, DG, Ihedioha Campaign Organisation and Spokesperson, Ihedioha Campaign Organisation, Kissinger Ikeokwu Esq.
However, in a quick response to the Appeal ruling on the Imo PDP guber candidate, C.I Asika Ilobi Esq., Special Counsel to Sen Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu Sam Daddy, issued a statement claiming that “SAM DADDY WINS AGAIN AT THE SUPREME COURT; IHEDIOHA’S APPEAL DESCRIBED AS TOTALLY LACKING IN MERIT, A MERE TIME WASTING DEVICE”.
Ilobi argued further that “By an appeal, lodged against the ruling of the trial Judge @ FHC, Owerri, granting Sam Daddy’s application to amend his originating processes, Ihedioha appealed to the Court of Appeal, Owerri Judicial Division,
claiming amongst other things, that Sam Daddy’s case challenging his purported Victory at the 1st Oct, 2018 PDP primaries was a sham, and that he(Sam Daddy won the said primaries), and not Ihedioha, based on verifiable evidence.
The said Ihedioha’s appeal has stalled proceedings at the trial court.
“The Court of appeal, on 28th December, 2018, in it’s wisdom, after hearing both parties, struck out the said Ihedioha’s appeal in line with Rule 10(B) court of appeal practice directions, and section 285 of the 1999 constitution(As amended),
Describing the said appeal by Ihedioha, as useless and a time wasting device, mischievously initiated to render comatose, the said suit, pending at the FHC, Owerri.
“Immediately after that, Ihedioha, in his desperation to frustrate the said suit, and render same comatose, Appealed further to the Supreme Court, Praying for the said matter to be transferred to another Judge, and claiming that the Court appeal erred in it 29th December, 2018, judgement.
“Today, being 21st January, 2019, The Supreme Court in it’s wisdom, After hearing from both parties, Dismissed the said appeal, affirming amongst other things, The Judgement of the court appeal, And ordering all parties to go to the trial court for the timely conclusion of the said case.
The Supreme Court described Ihedioha’s appeal as totally lacking in merit and useless.
This is Victory for the law, Sam Daddy and all well meaning Imolites, and Nigeria in General.”
