As part of renewed efforts at ending surge in illegal use of Dangote trucks and trailers, the management of Dnagote Group has called on Nigerians to mount surveillance on highways to as to provide details leading to arrest of drivers in the act and get N250,000 instantly.
Otherwise, any person that provides credible details in the arrest of such persons by the law enforcement agents will be richer with N0.25m.
Chief Corporate Communications Officer of the group, Mr. Anthony Chiejina, said in a statement that “The Management of Dangote Industries Limited wishes to solicit the assistance of the general public in the fight to rid the organisation of illegal haulage activities being perpetrated by some unscrupulous persons.”
“In pursuit of this objective, anyone with verifiable information which will lead to the arrest of such person(s) or goods will be rewarded with the sum of N250,000.00 (Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira Only).”
However, to aid prospective whistle blowers wishing to give such details, the company listed official products of the group permitted to be transported on the over 10,000 Dangote trucks to include Dangote Cement, Limestone, High Grade Gypsum and Coal; Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc- Dangote Sugar; Nascon Allied Industries Plc – Dangote Salt & DanQ Seasoning; Agrosacks Industries Limited – Bags; Dangote Flour Mills Plc – (Dangote Wheat, Flour and Danvita)
Chiejina averred that “We hereby alert the public to report any suspected Dangote Truck driver involved in illegal haulage supported with credible evidence of such act.”
Accordingly, “The Police and other law enforcement agents have been authorised to arrest any Dangote Truck driver involved in such illegal act,” as members of the public who want to give credible intelligence will give details including Truck Type; Truck Plate Number; Truck Cab No.; Location of the Truck, Contents of the Truck, Colour of the Truck and Photographs of the Truck and goods if possible.
Business Hilights recalls that Dangote Group had over the years, devised various means to rid the company of unscrupulous drivers who engaged in illegal haulage activities and others who constituted themselves into menace to other road users.
However, some of the drivers’ and motor boys’ have continued the act of illegal haulage including smuggling of bags of rice from the land borders.
