Access Bank ends week-long celebration of 10 years of sustainable banking
Leading financial institution, Access Bank Plc., has successfully concluded its week-long anniversary of 10 years of promoting sustainable banking with a week-long event tagged, ‘Journey to a sustainable future’, held across several branches within and outside Nigeria.
In his remarks at the programme, the Chief Executive Officer, Herbert Wigwe, described the celebration as an opportunity to appreciate the results recorded so far while still setting the pace for better achievements in the coming years.
While reiterating strong commitment to sustainable banking in the financial institution in a statement, Wigwe averred “The business of banking for us goes beyond keeping the money. We are very interested in people and the planet and we are committed to these. I am happy at the progress we have made with this since we began 10 years ago and I am very sure we will do even better in the coming years”.
“I believe we have the most skilled, disciplined and ethical people in the industry and I can make bold to say that it is our collective effort as a team that has got us this far in our journey to becoming the world most respected African bank.”
Earlier in his response, the Head of Sustainability at Access Bank, Omobolanle Victor-Laniyan, noted that over the last 10 years, the bank had initiated several ideas that had demonstrated its commitment at promoting sustainability.
Business Hilights gathered that the event featured series of activities including seminars, cooking competition, employee volunteering; movie screening and other exciting activities geared towards deepening the sustainability culture among the members of staff as well as celebrate the efforts and impact achieved over the last 10 years.
One of the highlights was the kick off of the biggest loser competition which aims at promoting a healthy lifestyle among the staff members.
Access Bank disclosed that “Since 2008, Access Bank has continued to earnestly push the boundaries on matters relating to sustainability, building value for stakeholders by sustainably making a profit, reducing the environmental impact of its business operations, and developing the communities it serves.”
