TD, MTN, Samsung, Sterling Bank team up to float Device financing scheme

Leading digital products distribution group, Technology Distributions (TD) Mobile Limited has brokered an innovative device access model in partnership with MTN Nigeria, Sterling Bank and Samsung Electronics to deepen seamless purchase of quality smartphones in a strategic financing system that is pocket friendly.

The platform known as MTN-Sterling Bank Device Financing scheme is structured in a way and manner interested buyers will be paying gradually as after the initial down payment, the remaining amount is spread over time in a way the buyer will not feel the harsh impacts of complete payment at once.

In her remarks, the chief executive of TD, Mrs. Gozy Ijogun explained that the idea was conceived as a way of encouraging massive access to smartphones which has been established as current drivers of the better socio-economic relation and business development as many businesses are now online and on palm due to data revolution.

She argued that as part of her company’s drive to bridge device affordability gap and further deepen smartphone penetration, the idea to partner with leading digitally inclined companies gave birth to Device Financing scheme.

In his presentation, Senior Manager, Data and Devices at MTN Nigeria, Mr. Abiodun Ajayi averred that MTN was proud to be part the Device Financing project in order to assist Nigerians that are yet to be connected to the blossoming world of Internet of Things and digitization to do so without pains in their pockets.

He revealed that as part of the goodies coming purchasing a device using the new platform; MTN will spike the device on purchase and activation with whooping 2GB to flag off the buyer’s digital experience.

Ajayi further noted that the service is taking off in Lagos at 14 select MTN shops and will go nationwide as time goes on.

Explaining more on why Sterling Bank joined the partnership, an official of the bank, Mr. Akin Shino, said “Sterling Bank is globally known for its One-Customer mind set which makes every customer special in all transactions and banking assistance”.

Earlier in her demonstration, another official of the bank, Ms. Murayo Ajayi who gave step-by-step process on how to access the Device Financing scheme, she explained visit to Specta website will seamlessly lead a prospective buyer to easy and affordable access to any smartphone of choice.

According to Mr. Yomi Oshiyomi of Samsung Electronics, he averred that the company is proud to associate with leading device distributing firms in Africa like TD and assured Nigerians of continued access to world class devices from Samsung.

On the security of the payment scheme, General Manager Africa, at PayJoy, Mr. Dominique Friedl, said buyers who default on payment plans may begin to observe reminders for at least seven day.

According to him, reminders for payment will stop as soon as the scheduled payment is made.
