40 Ghanaian companies off to Scotland to grow partnership in petroleum sector
In its continuous build up to deepening the growth and expansion capacities of Ghanaian indigenous players in the oil and gas industry, the Petroleum Commission of Ghana (PCG) is leading a delegation of over 40 Ghanaian companies on a week’s oil and gas trade mission to Aberdeen, Scotland.
A statement issued by PCG revealed that “The goal is to engage with their Scottish counterparts seeking business opportunities in Ghana’s upstream petroleum industry”.
“The maiden trade mission was being organized in partnership with the UK-Ghana Chamber of Commerce (UKGCC) and Scottish Development International (SDI).
Continuing, the Commission averred that “It is in pursuance of the Petroleum Local Content and Local Participation Regulations, which require that indigenous companies are exposed to industry best practices of more matured jurisdictions and to possibly build strategic and joint venture partnerships with international companies.
Explaining more the chief executive of the Commission, Mr. Egbert Faibille Jnr, who drilled the representatives of the companies, advised them to be prepared to take full advantage of the opportunity to forge partnerships.
According to him, “These possible strategic partnerships are expected to stimulate growth, commercial viability, business skills, competitiveness and technology transfer.”
In his remarks during a pre-departure briefing in Accra, SDI Regional Manager for Africa, Mr. Andy Monaghan, emphasized on the need for the Ghanaian companies to forge strong partnerships with several Scottish oil and gas firms that are into their core businesses for easy transfer of technologies and exchange programmes to grow.
He said “SDI is an investment arm of the Scottish government specialised in identifying market opportunities and facilitating business relationships for many Scottish companies”.
