Chad, Niger, Cameroon to consummate cargo transactions at Kaduna Dry Port
As all is set for the commissioning of Kaduna Inland Dry Port in Thursday, January 4, 2018, indications have emerged indicating that not only importers based in northern Nigeria will make use of the facility.
According to the port manager, Mr Rotimi Oledele Raimi, neighbouring countries including Chad, Niger, Cameroon and the Central African Republic are to consummate their allied transactions using the dry port.
Coming on the investment drive of the federal government though the Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC) and other stakeholders, investigations by Business Hilights North Bureau chief showed that port activities have already taken off in the Kaduna Inland Dry Port meaning that site is the first of such in the country.
It was gathered that the facility had been gazetted on May 26, 2015, and is now equipped for port operations and shipping services, international and local logistics, freight and forwarding to the inner reaches of Northern Nigeria and landlocked neighbouring countries of the Niger Republic, Chad, and Cameroon.
NSC, Kaduna State Chapter said the facility is expected that about 300, 000 people will get direct jobs from the dry port in a few years to come.
