All is set for the award of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) Presidential Award on Mr. Tony Ojobo, the Director Corporate Affairs at the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), today, December 14, in Lagos.

The conferment of this prestigious award was communicated to Ojobo through an official letter by the President and Chairman of Council of NIPR, Dr. Rotimi Oladele.

In the letter, NIPR averred that “The prestigious award is given in recognition of your sterling leadership qualities, outstanding contributions towards the development of the Public Relations practice and support for industry advancement.”

The award ceremony will climax the yearly Presidential Dinner billed for Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.

NIPR noted that Ojobo, the Director, Public Affairs at the NCC, has brought finesse and vitality to professionalism in his day to day handling of issues in Nigeria’s fastest growing sector, telecommunication and information technology commenting and communicating in everyday language in the public as matters arise.

Business Hilights recalls that few weeks ago, the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), where Ojobo graduated had honoured him with an award of Excellence at a ceremony tagged, Alumni Home coming and 32nd Anniversary celebration of the Faculty of Management of the University.

Telecoms industry stakeholders’ say the performance of Ojobo since the advent of GSM and data revolution in Nigeria has driven education and awareness of the agency’s activities to an enviable height.

It would be recalled that in a recent survey carried out by the Business Hilights Intelligence Unit (BHIU), NCC came first as the federal agency leading in regular information and education of Nigerians on its activities. NCC was followed by Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC) and the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).

According to the report, the federal agency in charge of driving government activities, the National Orientation Agency (NOA) failed with a total score of less than 15 percent.
