Without waiting for investment breakthrough, Dangote Cement which commissioned its new plant in Congo on Thursday last week, announced Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects worth $1.5m for the country.
In his address during the unveiling, President, Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, said his company’s CSR initiatives have commenced in Mfila, Congo Brazzaville, with $1.2m aid for the completion of a bridge and another $300,000 scholarship scheme.
Dangote noted that the target of the early implementation of the CSR is part of the corporate policy of the company anywhere it is doing business, adding that addressing the concerns of the local people on their welfare, formed part of Dangote group’s policy of giving back to the people in areas where it has interests.
Ibeshe, Ogun State and Obajana in Kogi state where Dangote Cement plants are located in Nigeria had been enjoying series of CSR projects.
