It was excitement on Thursday as the Ogun State Government commenced the distribution of 5MW after the official switch on of the 15 Megawatts power plant constructed by the government and Lisabi Power, an Independent Power Provider (IPP) through Public Partnership Programme (PPP).
A top official of the government confided in Business Hilights in an interview that the power is specifically sent to government secretariat, government official quarters, public hospitals, and others to end the history of epileptic power supply.
According to the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Architect Olamilekan Adegbite, other government facilities that will be powered include the government house, commissioners’ quarters, water corporation, modern shopping malls, street lights, legislative quarters, and the deputy governors’ residence would benefit from the first phase.
The power plant, has its generation at Onijaganjagan in Ifo Local Government Area and power house at Oke-Sokori in Abeokuta North Local government.
Adegbite also added that other critical locations that will be powered include palaces of kings within Abeokuta metropolis, saying more people and organizations would be considered in the distribution by the time the power plants is upgraded to 15 MW.
The capacity of the plant is 15MW.
