Nigerians seek tailored use of released N243.8bn tranche of Paris Club refund by Govs.
Following the announced release of the second tranche of Paris Club refunds by the Federal Government to the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nigerians who had expressed disappointments over abuse of first payment have called on governors to see the second payment as another opportunity to develop the states with the facility.
The Ministry of Finance had in a terse statement on Monday, signed by the Director of Information, Ministry of Finance, Mr. Salisu Danbatta, explained that the N243, 795,465,195.20 billion released to the 36 States and the FCT, was sequel to the May 4, 2017 approval by President Muhammad Buhari.
Government averred that the refund is to be used for the partial settlement of long-standing claims by State Governments relating to over-deductions from their Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) allocation for external debt service arising between 1995 and 2002.
