90% of manufacturing, industrial sectors in Nigeria fall under SMEs—Glo
Leading national carrier and grand data masters, Globacom has revealed that that 90 per cent of the manufacturing and industrial sectors in the country fall under Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
In a presentation made at the Nigerian-American Chamber of Commerce’s 2017 African Foods and Products Conference, Tega Agofure of Glo Business Solutions, observed that the International Finance Corporation (IFC) had also affirmed that 96 per cent of total businesses in Nigeria are driven by the SME sector.
He explained that SME Flexi is one of the company’s advanced solutions that could assist the growth of SMEs in Nigeria, adding that Globacom would soon energise other core business solutions that would bring about the needed transformation in the SME sector.
While stressing that Glo SME Flexi remains one-of-its-kind integrated plan ‘with unmatched value’ that gives users the flexibility to call and use the internet without having to separately buy data bundles, Agofure noted that the package is available in various denominations which suit the wallet of the SMEs. They include SME Flexi 500, SME Flexi 1000, and SME Flexi 2000, adding that each of these denominations gives its users specific talk time and certain number of bytes for data use.
According to him, “Glo SME Flexi gives you the flexibility to use either voice or data with the same bundle subscription, for instance, SME Flexi 500 automatically gives its users 60 minutes of talk time or 650 MB of data while SME Flexi 1000 gives 125 minutes of talk time or 2000MB of data and SME Flexi 2000 give 275 minutes of voice call or 5000MB of data”.
Going forward, Agofure urged participants to embrace “technological advancement, proper accounting solutions to reduce risks, integrated but flexible voice & data plans and online training on business skills”.
The conference was put together by the Nigerian-American Chamber of Commerce as part of renewed efforts to deepen the performance of SMEs and their contributions to the economy considering the sector’s strength as the largest employers of labour in the economy.
